In modern society, technological innovation advances daily, yet ethical and social challenges are also becoming increasingly apparent. Against this backdrop, the importance of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) that consciously addresses Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues (ELSI) within universities is growing ever greater.
The purpose of this series is to share our insights on technology and its societal impacts across various fields related to engineering, thereby fostering a deeper understanding within society at large. In other words, it aims to explore the ELSI/RRI of future technologies from multiple perspectives. Furthermore, through dialogue with researchers active at the forefront of future technologies, we seek to provide viewers with new perspectives.
The theme of vol.3 is “Space and Resources.” As space development advances, an era is approaching where many people will operate in space, utilizing resources from the Moon, planets, and small celestial bodies. This is likely to bring forth various “new challenges” where technology and society intersect. How should we expand our sphere of activity, considering both the current generation and future generations? Four speakers representing their respective fields will tackle this unanswered question.
