

150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

A ceremony commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Gandhi (born on October 2, 1869, assassinated on January 30, 1948) and the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Imphal was held at the University of Tokyo.
The ceremony looked back on how India achieved its independence through non-violence and disastrous battle from the viewpoint of Japan-India exchange.
This lecture discusses the relationship between Gandhi and Japan from the perspective of the exchange between Nichidatsu Fujii, the founder of Nipponzan Myohoji, and Gandhi, and the Battle of Imphal.
