Gravitational waves are ripples in the curvature of spacetime, predicted by Albert Einstein as one of the major consequences of his theory of general relativity. However, they had not been observed until 2016.

In this lecture, two researchers tell what are gravitational waves and what will be made possible by observation of them. Also introducing KAGRA, the large scale gravitational wave telescope being constructed in Japan, they talk about the prospect for a new astronomy using KAGRA.
