“Lipid" refers to oil. However, oils derived from minerals such as petroleum and gasoline are not called lipids, only oils derived from animals and plants. What do you think of when you hear the word "lipid"? Generally, lipids as nutrients are what would be of most interest. In this lecture, we would like to talk about "lipids" which are familiar to us, but excessive intake of which can cause lifestyle-related diseases, and their roles as nutrients, components of cell membranes, and information transmitters.
