The "Kagayashiki Gosyuden Gate" (commonly known as the "Akamon" ) of the University of Tokyo has been classed to have low seismic resistance based on parts of the results from the basic seismic diagnosis that had been carried out. Because of this, we have taken the measure of closing the gate until we can ensure that we can confirm the performance of seismic resistance. Using this opportunity, we have created a video in which academic staff of the Department of Architecture in the Faculty of Engineering provides explanation, while guiding you on an online tour of various parts of the "Akamon", such as the attic, which you will not normally be able to view.
