Rare Earth Mud in Minamitorishima Island Will Save Japan

Despite the rare earth elements are significant resources for high-tech industry in Japan, China corners the production. This lecture explains why such monopoly happens and proposes a resource strategy for Japan which regards mud in the depth of the sea around Tahiti, Hawaii, and Minamitorishima island holding rare earth minerals. Moreover, current situation of investigation and development of the “dream mud” around Minamitorishima island will be introduced.
